![]() ![]() In the past decade, Cavaliers have had a 735 per cent increase in AKC registrations, more than any other breed.To this day, there are two separate national Cavalier clubs, one AKC affiliated and one not. The AKC recognized the Cavalier in 1996 amidst great controversy.Fanciers disagreed, however, over whether they wanted AKC recognition. Cavaliers came to America in the 1940s. Cavaliers King Charles Spaniels are paw-sitively charming little dogs and are the largest breed within the toy category. Cavaliers are kind, gentle and loyal dogs which is why they are so popular, but will need constant company as they get very upset at being left alone. ![]() But only when a Cavalier won Best in Show at the prestigious Crufts dog show did the breed capture the public's attention.
